Bioteck social responsibility: Girls & Science 2024

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development drafted in 2015 by 169 countries around the world sets important goals for living in an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable world.

The acquisition of STEM (an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills for the younger generation is crucial to achieving these goals.

It is in this context that Bioteck Spa fits, supporting the forward-looking Girls & Science Project promoted by Apindustria Confimi Vicenza, aimed at high school students in the city of Vicenza to raise their awareness of the acquisition of STEM disciplines.

Starting with an explanation of the Zymo-Teck enzymatic process, the basis for the production of our tissue substitutes, the scientific staff of Bioteck Spa introduced the students to the world of biomaterials used in regenerative medicine. Through hands-on experiences, from the use of microscopes to the functional characterization of an industrially key enzyme, introducing methodologies of bioinformatics, the students were able to see the value of STEM skills.

We like the idea of having made a small contribution of our own to the future of these young people, trying to stimulate new interests from which new educational paths could emerge.

This activity of Bioteck S.p.A. is part of the Bioteck Social Responsibility project launched in 2022 with the aim of carrying out and supporting social and educational activities in its territory: the Vicenza area.
